3GN Nationals caps 2018 season, crowns division, class champions

3GN Nationals, presented by NRA Sports, lived up to the hype, delivering an outstanding shooting challenge while crowning class, division champions

Members from across the United States and Canada came together at The Clinton House in South Carolina for a weekend of competition, camaraderie and fun at 3GN Nationals, presented by NRA Sports. The weekend culminated with class and division National Champions crowned, capping the 2018 competition programs from 3-Gun Nation.

The 2018 3GN National Champions include: Josh Froelich (Unlimited), Nate Staskiewicz (Practical), Keith Bourgeois (PCC), Ray Helms (Factory), Chris Wiesemann (Practical 308), and Joe Cirigliano (Unlimited PCC).

Following the match, competitors, based on both class and division finishes, earned slots into the 3GN Shoot-Off, in a chance to compete for awards and prizes, an exciting end to a weekend full of championship shooting. Juniors, Ladies and the top class and division shooters battled for bragging rights in each division, before the winners advanced into the overall Shoot-Off, sponsored by Grizzly Targets.

3GN Championship Winners include: Lanny Barnes (Lady), Brady Lawing (Junior), Chris Wiesemann (Practical 308), Thomas McKaskil (Factory), Joe Cirigliano (Unlimited PCC), Keith Bourgeois (PCC), Josh Froelich (Unlimited), and Nate Staskiewicz (Practical). In the finals of the overall Shoot-Off, Froelich edged Staskiewicz in the most thrilling run of the night, a perfect ending to one of the finest match weekend 3GN has produced to date.

3GN Nationals was one of several competition programs facilitated by 3-Gun Nation. And while one might assume only a large organization with limitless resources can put on major matches, that’s not the case. 3-Gun Nation is built upon a core group of individuals who believe in its mission to grow the game, creating the best events for our members and competitors.

3GN Nationals Staff & Volunteers: Making it all Go

3GN Nationals was led by match director Larry Goedhardt, who also serves as the 3GN Regional Series Director. Goedhardt stepped up this season and has flourished in the role as match director, creating dynamic, challenging and fun stages that have lead to some of the most fun 3GN matches to date. Larry answered the call this year to revamp and improve 3GN’s major match experience, and we are a better organization top to bottom via his efforts.
Tennille Chidester is a familiar face and name here at 3GN, as she has been with us for more than five years, accepting every challenge and responsibility thrown her way. From setting up and tearing down stages, customer service, match admin, sponsor support, and even on-air livestream reporter, Tennille has quite simply done it all. We often joke Tennille is the grownup of the group, but more accurately, she is the backbone of 3GN, and without her this organization would be diminished. We owe her a lifetime of gratitude.
Chris Kanel is the hardest working man in 3-Gun, hands down. And if you’ve been to one of our match, he needs no introduction. He gets the job done and knows every inch of our sport, building and keeping every 3GN match up and running. We don’t know of a more loyal, hard-working individual anywhere. Chris Kanel is a rock star, the very lifeblood of 3GN’s major matches.
Tobin Babcock took on the role of 3GN Range Master this season and has been a servant to the cause ever since. He has a supreme command of the 3-Gun Nation ruleset, and has provided a remarkably firm, fair enforcement of rules and safety on the range, providing an unprecedented level of competitive equity for the competitors. In-between matches, Tobin has given his own time to conduct Range Officer training via 3GN’s online training program, providing a benefit for 3GN Clubs. Tobin also has been on the range from setup to teardown, spending time away from work, family and friends, ensuring 3GN Members get the best match possible. Babcock’s volunteerism and dedication to the 3GN cause is one we can never thank enough.

3GN Range Officers

Of course everyone thanks the RO’s. And for good reason, they are the face of the match! They are on the frontline all day running the stages over and over, through rain, cold and mud. And for what? Lucrative pay? No. They shoot the match for free, yes, but its often rushed and interrupted, not truly getting a proper match like everyone else. But beyond that, they also work long days, from dusk ’til dawn, and keeping a smile on their face and being a great liaison for the shooters.
However, this is common across the sport, not just 3GN RO’s. However, there is a collection of RO’s that we, in our biased opinion, feel as if they quite possibly could be the greatest humans on earth. Each has an individual quality, and each wants to show every shooter a good time on the range. Lee Beigert, Chris Weismann, Adolphus Jones, Rob (Guitar Virtuoso) Hall, Leroy Garcia, Justin Martin, Jody Tippitt, Ed Grissom, Todd VanLangen, Keith Bourgius, Chris Brower, Bill Richberg, Pat Parker and Tom Butscher all gave their time and considerable effort to ensure 3GN Nationals was a resounding success. We thank you all.
Bobby Walla is a new face around 3GN, and has done a tremendous job helping procure prizes for our competitors. He has worked extremely hard to help 3GN produce content and editorial as well. Bobby has a true belief in what 3GN works to do for the competitive shooting community and works on a daily basis to help in all aspects of our mission.

3GN Nationals Sponsors

Of course, last but not least are our sponsors. Both American Precision Arms and Blackwater Precision came to the event from afar to meet and greet shooters, have a side stage and contribute extra goodies. 3GN Nationals, presented by NRA Sports, was sponsored by: American Precision Arms, Armageddon Gear, Attibal, Blackwater Precision, Brazen Sports, Caracal USA, Columbia River Arms, Devil Dog Arms, Grizzly Targets, Lucid Optics, Inforce, Nightforce Optics, Nitri3de Systems, Luth-AR, Mossberg, MGM Targets, Strike Industries, Tifosi Optics, Timney Triggers, Rainier Ballistics and Vortex.
