Legendary manufacturer Walther Arms continues to support competitive shooting in 2018 through major match sponsorships
Shaken, not stirred. Bond, James Bond. Ok … enough Bond movie quotes. While the iconic PPK is great for 007, Walther Arms is making a big splash in the competition and self-defense arenas with their line up of PPQ and Q5 Match pistols.
Walther is one of those timeless brands that represent a very loyal fanbase of owners, with quality of manufacture as one of the keys to their legend. Owning a Walther is just fun, and with their modern lineup of pistols its also practical.
Starting, of course, in competition, the Q5 Match does what you expect from an upgraded polymer pistol. While Glock, Sig and the like can be found in the hands of 3-Gun shooters at just about every match, the Q5 is rapidly taking its rightful place among Practical Division handguns.
The new Q5 Match from Walther is built for the production class competitive shooter. Built around its award-winning PPQ platform, the Q5 Match features an optics-ready slide that comes with a Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point, and Docter Optics ready mounting plate in addition to the standard competition iron sights already included. Coupled with a ported slide, Carl Walther signature ergonomics, and a blue quick defense trigger, the Q5 is the firearm that gives you match performance in a 3GN Practical division firearm.
“When we first developed a tool for competition shooters, we naturally started with our strengths and then added features that competitive shooters have asked for,” said Cody Osborne, Marketing Manager for Walther Arms. “The result of this combination is the Walther Q5 match.”
The features that separate the Q5 is the front slide cuts that lighten the overall weight of the slide. The Q5 is outfitted with a red fibre-optic front site paired with an LPA adjustable rear target site.
However everyone knows that Walther makes superior defensive guns such as the PPS chambered in 9mm and .40 – and of course the PPQ line-up that took home the 2017 American Rifleman Handgun of the Year honors.
But moreover, there has never been a better time for competitors to consider the purchase of a Q5 Match. Why? Because Walther is putting actual money where their mouth is. Last year, Walther announced a contingency program in which competitors who place in 1stor 2ndplace in IDPA and/or USPSA events with a Walther handgun can win bonus cash for their podium finish. 3GN hopes to be a part of this program in 2019 as well.
In all, the Q5 Match is worth a look for the competition market, and of course the defensive line-up speaks for itself.
