Miculek Dominates Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun
Horner, Schmitt, Watson Post Division Wins

By Chad Adams
PARK CITY, Ky. – In what many competitors felt was one of the better Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Championship matches to date, well over 200 competitors slugged it out over the rough terrain and large round counts that define what is arguably the Eastern U.S.’s toughest 3-gun match here recently. Again using every hill, treeline and rolling valley that is the backdrop of the Rockcastle Shooting Center, match director Andy Horner challenged competitors with 400-plus-yard rifle engagements, a tunnel, a climbing wall, and several chest-heaving courses of fire that are his signature.
Jerry Miculek closed out the major 3-gun season in dominating fashing, posting 1,347.44 match points in Open on his way to division and match overall honors. Brian Butcher (1,099.54) finished second in Open, followed by Henrik Blixt (1,078.35), Iain Harrison (990.34) and Mark Roth (980.72).
Deane Graves (956.11) finished sixth, followed by Allan Zitta (950.79), Scott Hawkins (934.43), Dianna Liedorff (933.63) and Kay Miculek (931.05).
U.S. AMU’s Daniel Horner (1,244.96) repeated once again at Blue Ridge in Tactical Optics. FNH USA’s Greg Jordan (1,207.87) finished a close second, followed by Horner’s teammate, Tyler Payne (1,158.48), Rob Romero (1,060.86) and Robby Johnson (1,046.76).
Bryan Ray (1,041.08) finished sixth, followed by Andrew Daun (1,026.35), Ryan Zamberlan (1.013.68), Eric Eckhart (1,012.58) and Scott McGregor (1,001.54).
Jay Schmitt (1,254.61) picked up the win in Tactical Iron. Rick Birdsall (1,253.84) picked up critical 3GN Semi-Pro points finishing second, followed by Brian Vaught (1,188.50), Madison Thompson (1,107.16) and rising female shooter Bethany Harris (973.52).
DSG Arms’ Kuan Watson (1,297.60) put the finishing touches on a stellar Heavy Metal season with another division win. Joel Turner (1,207.62), even with a catastrophic jam on Stage 5 that prevented him from engaging any rifle targets, finished second, followed by Jomar Villamor (1,073.39), Katie Harris (1,029.37) and JJ Johnson (980.45).
All 3GN Divisional races are now updated through Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun. All competitors are encouraged to check their totals to ensure we have your top three scores calculated. An official arbitration announcement will be issued next week.
